Letting Go. It can be hard to do, but we all have to let go of things so we can move forward. Juliana has experienced the worst kind of tragedy: the kind where closure is almost impossible to find. For the past 2 years she has focused solely on trying to get through each day. She throws her energy into building her successful event planning business. But in trying so hard to just survive, she doesn’t notice that she has stopped living. She hasn’t really felt anything other than terror and anguish for 2 years, so to avoid that she has stopped feeling anything at all.
Completely out of character, she has a one night stand with Harrison Hayes. They don’t even exchange names. But the connection they share puts a tiny crack in her emotional walls. From that first night, pushes her let go and just feel. He brings her back to life.
Harrison also needs to learn to let go. His daughter is getting married, and he has trouble letting go of his little girl. He also carries baggage from his past marriage to Olivia’s mother. After being hurt by her, he avoids letting anyone get close to him for more than 20 years.

Fate brings them back together to plan Olivia’s wedding, and they take tentative steps toward a future. But letting go becomes a serious challenge when Juliana is confronted with a ghost from her past. She has to decide whether to look forward with Harrison or backwards to her past. It takes a trip halfway around the world for her to realize if she holds on to past dreams, she will never be free.
She realizes she will always choose Harrison, regardless of what ghosts from the past may reappear. But Harrison has to let her go and risk that she might not come back in order for her to realize it.
The happy ending of Unpredictable is so perfect, and it feels well earned. Both characters grow so much over the course of the story, especially Juliana. I loved seeing her overcome her tragedy and become a better, stronger version of herself. But the first push toward her growth comes from Harrison. He truly does bring her back to life.
Sleeping with the father of the bride—a former NFL player and one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors—was not part of the plan.
It was only supposed to be one night.
One night to forget.
