Emilia Stiles is recovering from breaking up with her boyfriend -she swears for the LAST time – by moving to LA to live with her best friend.  The second grade teacher hasn’t gotten out much in the past few years, but her best friend and roommate is determined to change that.

Alex Vega is a well-known, incredibly successful director.  Divorced from the mom of his second grader, Alex is tired and wondering where the excitement in his life went.  Right now the only exciting thing in his life is hanging out with Ryder, which he loves, but let’s be real, a 32 year old man might want a little more than a 7 year old to hang out with.

They first meet at a bar over the summer when Emilia’s roommate drags her out, and share one fantastic kiss.  But with no way to contact each other, they both decide to try and forget about it.  Until the school year starts, and unbeknownst to both of them, Emilia ends up as Ryder’s teacher.

At first they try to keep their relationship professional, and when that doesn’t work they try to keep it a secret until the end of the school year so Emilia is no longer Ryder’s teacher.  Naturally, neither of these options works out too well.

They end up getting some unexpected help with their bringing their relationship public from a surprise source – one I never saw coming, but was perfect.

Kayley Loring has become an automatic buy for me.  Her books are funny and sweet with smart, likeable characters.   The way Emilia and Alex talk and banter with each other is hilarious.  Troublemaker is one of those comforting, easygoing, perfect escape books I CRAVE these days. If you’re looking for a fun escape from real life, give it a try.  You won’t be disappointed!
