This book has been out for a couple of years now, but it’s SO worth the read! It’s a perfect, sweet escape from real life. I was literally laughing out loud while reading – what more could you want right now?
Sophie and Doug have known each other for years, since their respective best friends got married, but while Doug has lusted after Sophie from the beginning, she wants nothing to do with him. They settle into a routine after a while, and Sophie finds herself looking forward to his ridiculous jokes and juvenile innuendos. When Doug’s condo floods, and he winds up staying at Sophie’s house for a few months, they begin to get to know each other, and they each realize there is more to the other one than they thought.
While Doug has always lusted after Sophie, he never thinks he might want more from her than he wants from every woman: a roll in the hay. He assumes once they finally get together she’ll be out of his system. Instead, he craves more of her – and it scares the ever-loving shit out of him.
Sophie finds herself lusting after Doug shows her a little bit of who he is underneath the silly bravado – how deeply he cares for his friends, how good he is with his friends’ kids, how sweet and caring he is with her grandmother, and how even his job is dedicated to helping make the world a better place. She realizes there’s a LOT more to Doug than she ever imagined. But she doubts her own ability to not hurt the people she loves, so she avoids him.
They both try to deny their feelings – both of them thinking a “friends with benefits” situation is the perfect solution. But life has other plans for them, and while they are both clumsy and awkward about it – in the end they are able to really see each other and understand how perfectly they fit together.
This book literally had me laughing out loud in places. I especially liked how the story comes full circle – beginning and ending up in the same hotel maintenance closet! Crazy Sexy Love is a super cute, sweet book with an awesome feel-good ending that will leave you with a smile. Even though this book has been out for a couple of years – it’s a PERFECT read for these stressful times!
